Glaciar Pesquera S.A. Fleet Achieves FISH Standard for Crew Certification

First FISH Certification in South America

San Diego, CA— March 31, 2025 — FISH Standard for Crew Inc. is pleased to announce two vessels of the Glaciar Pesquera S.A. fleet have been awarded FISH certification. The certified vessels, the B/P Atlantic Surf III and B/P Capesante, are Argentine flagged vessels that harvest Patagonian Scallops. Certification Body SGS awarded the certification after extensive policy and procedure review, on-site vessel inspections, and face-to-face interviews of crew members.

“We are very proud to be the first Argentine company to attain FISH certification, a recognition that is consistent with Glaciar Pesquera’s respect for, and investment in, our people,” said Eduardo S. Gonzalez Lemmi, Glaciar Pesquera President and shareholder. “We view FISH’s independent certification process as best practice, consistent with prioritizing our people, and validation that our fleet has achieved the highest levels of performance with respect to crew treatment and onboard conditions.”

“With the seafood marketplace’s desire to offer seafood that is harvested sustainably and from vessels whose crew are treated with respect and fairness, we believe programs like FISH can serve as a credible, third-party tool that organizations like Glaciar Pesquera can use to demonstrate commitments to, and care of, their crews”, noted Fridrik Fridriksson, chair of the FISH’s Board of Directors and General Counsel at Brim.

In a testament to the credibility of FISH, it completed the Consumer Goods Forum Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) benchmark process and achieved SSCI recognition successfully meeting the criteria for the SSCI Social Compliance: At-Sea Operations Scope. SSCI seeks to build trust in certification programs by recognizing those programs that align with best practices set by leading industry stakeholders.

Glaciar Pesquera joins ten other fleets from eight other flag states in achieving FISH Standard for Crew certification. With Glaciar Pesquera’s certification, fleets have been certified to the FISH standard on six continents. FISH is actively working with additional organizations and fleets around the world.
